Over time this has been built up to encompass an ever widening range of complimentary Support Services caring for the modern business needs and allowing customers to concentrate on their own work while we take care of the details.

Support services
Structural steel fabrication
Borley Brothers are extremely adept at fabricating and erecting structural steel, staircases and fire escapes, hand railing and balustrade, gates and rails to industrial, commercial and domestic markets. We can provide a comprehensive service that includes drawing and detailing, manufacture and erection, or simply supply you with a single beam. Offering the fabrication and erection of various forms of structural steel including portal frames, trusses and tubular structures, we can also provide cladding services where required. With our own mobile crane and lorries with a hiab crane, Borleys can be very flexible without having to rely on outside contractors.
Specialist equipment design & manufacture
Borley Brothers has been able to carve out a niche market within the engineering services—Specialist Equipment Design & Manufacture. We have been made a name introducing specialised machinary and apparatus to fulfil our clients particular need. From sensitive items in the Aerospace Industry to Art related sculpture installations, museum exhibits to items of historical importance. There are few limits to the individual projects we would consider—just try us!
Plant installation
Most recently our work in this field has been centred around projects for the NHS. For example, the heating system at Norwich & Norfolk Hospital, and the incinerators at Addenbrookes, Cambridge. Under the direction of those particular Foundations we have provided the necessary superstructures for ensuring timely and cost effective solutions where there were both planned and unplanned elements to the projects. Smaller scale installations are also within our scope.
Aircraft ground support equipment
Borley Brothers have been designing and manufacturing bespoke aircraft docking systems and ground support equipment since 1970. With the introduction of higher regulations on 6th April 2005, aircraft docking now plays a key part in aircraft maintenance programs. We can provide a complete package that includes the design, manufacture and installation of docking and ground support equipment—all to your specific requirements and within current legislation. Borley Brothers have provided equipment and services to organization such as The Ministry of Defense, BAE Systems, Westland Helicopters, British Airways, Marshalls Aerospace and The Canadian Air Force. Project management
With a wealth of experience in the interface between Engineering & Construction and Engineering & Aviation we have the option to offer dedicated staff to ensure the process runs smoothly. With both Public & Product Liability and access to a large number of Industry Specialists we are confident we can look after your particular project, be it local to Cambridge, national or international. We have installed systems in the UK and abroad including Europe and North America.
Transport & delivery
We own a number of vehicles ranging from Transit Pickups, 7.5t through to 24t flatbed trucks—one of which includes a crane, enabling us to deliver our own manufactured parts nationwide. Further we have a 35t Kato crane, available for hire within the local area. If you need we can skate machinery into and out of buildings to help with onward transportation. We also undertake 3rd party collections & deliveries for our account customers. If required we will engage specialist transport where we are Project Managing larger moves.
CAD design
With the introduction of our in-house CAD design system , Autodesk Inventor, Borley Brothers are able to provide a cost effective design solution. To complement these services we can also offer structural analyses capabilities. With this, any problems that may have arisen during manufacture and operation can be overcome without any disruption to your manufacturing process.
Repairs & industrial maintenance
With our workshop vans we are able to come to you for any plant or machinery on site that requires repairing. This includes welding, cutting and making temporary repairs. If we can’t fix it there and then we may be able to remove it from site and bring it to our workshops. There we can call upon our network of reliable suppliers to complete full repairs as per your needs.
